Celebrate Strings provides free after-school violin instruction to students at Bernice Mathews Elementary School in Washoe County. Each school year, approximately 80 students receive group lessons four days per week free of charge. This includes the instrument and music, in addition to the classes. Each session is eight weeks long, followed with a graduation ceremony and concert for parents, teachers and fellow students. Private lessons are also provided weekly for those individuals who excel and prove to be dedicated. This program provides an earlier introduction to strings than would be possible for children in this community.
