About Us

The Reno Philharmonic Association, our mission is to provide world-class, innovative musical performances and exceptional educational and outreach programs that attracts the widest possible audience.

The orchestra performs under the leadership of Music Director and Conductor Barry Jekowsky in the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts in Reno and in various outdoor and indoor venues throughout northern Nevada and California. The popular MasterClassics Series is performed on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday evenings between September and April. The Philharmonic also boasts an impressive and diverse education department, which includes two youth orchestras, a series of Young People’s Concerts and a Discover Music program.

The orchestra has received special recognition in recent years having been named “Best Performing Arts Group” in Reno nine times from 1991-2001 by Reno Gazette-Journal readers. The Philharmonic and its Guild have been honored to receive several Silver Star awards for education programs and concerts from Truckee Meadows Tomorrow for enhancing the quality of life in northern Nevada. In 2003, the Reno Philharmonic Youth Orchestras received a Best of Reno Award from the editors and readers of the Reno News and Review.
